Bittersweetness of a Shelter Employee

I had a message from a co-worker at OperationKindness today about another one of my dogs who I’ve spent a lot of time with going home. This is why I spend a lot of time with our more complicated personalities, to help make them more adoptable, get them home and hopefully they stay there healthy & happy till the end (I should also mention our great volunteer group!)

As hard as it is to not get attached and just do the job, you can’t help it when you care about your work like I do. Anyone who has worked with me anywhere in my past careers will testify to my dedication, but now I’m doing something to make difference in lives (not just doing something), so my amount of care is way more intense (lets call it).

I love picking up poop, and all the cleaning we do…because I get to walk dogs and get time to work with some of them on personality flaws (usually created by one or more of us stupid people).

So to not be able to watch sweet, loving dogs like these two, who I’ve spent a lot of time with lately go home is bittersweet.

Have a better rest of your life Ton-Ton & Faith.

Well, another bummer, I could only use one picture.
